It's that time again. Snippet Sunday. :)
Thank you so much for dropping by! Today's snippet is from my military-themed male/male erotic romance In the Middle of Nowhere. This story is tentatively set to release in October from Loose Id.
In this snippet, Tyler Bishop, a man with a very dark and painful past, has gone on walkabout to deal with an emotional blow he's just suffered. In a small Tennessee town in the middle of nowhere, he runs into his ex, Army Lieutenant Dean Henderson. Sparks and tempers fly, but when Tyler learns Dean is set to ship off to Afghanistan in less than a month, Tyler feels an emotional breakdown coming on, and Dean tries to comfort him...
“Ty,” Dean whispered. “Please turn around.”
Against his better judgment, Tyler slowly turned a one eighty. Tenderness blanketed Dean’s face. Solemnness too. Hesitation and concern also made an appearance. Looking into Dean’s brown eyes made forgetting the intervening years easy—well, easier.
The other man held out his hand. “Tyler Bishop, will you dance with me?”
A single tear broke free, but Tyler willed its companions to stay put. Tomorrow would come and the waterworks could start then. Tomorrow, when Dean would leave and loneliness would once again take his place.
I know that was a little over the 8-10 sentence rule, but 2 or 3 were incomplete "impact" sentences. I hope that's okay. *fingers crossed*
Thanks for dropping by. I hope to see you back soon!
